M&M’s CEO and President Carey Dove has been at the helm of the Company since 1996. M&M was founded in 1972 by Russell “Muggs” Mullican, Carey’s father. Since assuming control of the Company, Carey has grown the Company her father started years ago into one of the most successful woman-owned businesses in the country.
Carey earned her degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland, College Park and has served in many roles for the Company, starting with her days as a Laborer in the field. Muggs’ and Carey’s philosophy – emphasizing the importance of cultivating and compensating a quality team – accounts for four decades of satisfaction shared among M&M’s clients and employees alike.
Dave joined M&M in 1979 as a Mechanical Helper and graduated from Steamfitters Local 602 Apprenticeship in 1986. During this time, Dave has served in just about every capacity in the Company.
Since 1994, Dave has served as M&M’s Executive Vice President assisting in the oversight of the day to day operations, while bidding and managing larger systemic projects for the Company and overseeing the Fire Protection Division.
Kyle currently serves as M&M’s Vice President, providing leadership and oversight in the procurement and execution of M&M’s projects.
Kyle began his career with the Company working summers in various positions throughout high school and college, then joined the Company in a full-time capacity as a Project Manager before becoming M&M’s Vice President. Kyle is a 2013 graduate of Salisbury University with a Degree in Business Management.
Matt has served as M&M’s Vice President of Operations since June 2018 after 16 years in the DC-area mechanical contracting industry.
Matt’s core responsibilities include oversight of M&M’s Project Managers and Estimators, including pursuit of new work, execution of contracts with customers and vendors/subcontractors, project schedule oversight and project financial review. Matt is a 2002 graduate of Virginia Tech with a BS in Building Construction
Travis currently serves as a Superintendent for the Company, responsible for overseeing the tradesmen and execution of M&M’s projects.
He joined the Company as a welder’s helper in 1982, served his Steamfitters Local 602 apprenticeship and worked as an accredited welder for the Company for over 20 years.
Travis has handled some of M&M’s most challenging projects and specializes in large industrial power and central heating plants.
Steve has served as M&M’s Safety Director and Quality Control Manager since 2007 with 38 years of experience in the construction industry, working in power and chemical plants as well as manufacturing facilities.
Steve is a welder, machinist and a recognized pioneer in automated welding. In his role with the Company, Steve oversees M&M’s quality control programs in accordance with NBIC and ASME for alterations and repairs to boilers, pressure vessels and piping systems.
Jesse has worked for M&M since 2000 when he started with the Company as a helper. He completed his apprenticeship with Steamfitters Local 602 and worked for years as a journeyman. Jesse currently serves as a Service Manager overseeing M&M’s Service Division.
He also oversees the execution of M&M’s insulation work. Jesse has extensive field and office experience in all aspects of M&M’s work and specializes in boiler installation, repair and service work.
Pat has served as a Project Manager for M&M’s Fire Protection Division since joining the Company in 2014 after 28 years working in the DC/Baltimore area Fire Protection industry. Pat is a graduate of Local 669 apprenticeship program and served a journeyman sprinkler fitter.
Pat brings his extensive field and office experience to his position as a Project Manager where he estimates and oversees execution of fire protection work for the Company.
Ryan is a 2013 graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Ryan joined the Company full-time as a Project Engineer in 2015, although he worked in the field for M&M during the summer throughout high school and college.
Ryan is responsible for estimating and executing various projects for the Company.
James currently serves as a Superintendent for the Company, responsible for overseeing tradesmen and subcontractors as well as overall field execution of M&M’s projects.
James joined the Company in 2015 and quickly took on a leadership role on projects while still completing his apprenticeship. James took on the role of Superintendent role in 2021 and currently oversees many of M&M’s industrial and steam distribution projects at facilities such as the Pentagon, University of Maryland, and other local campuses.
Duane currently serves as a Superintendent for the Company, responsible for overseeing tradesmen and subcontractors as well as overall field execution of M&M’s projects. He joined the Company in 2003 and quickly took on a leadership role as a project Foreman before transitioning to a Superintendent role in 2019. Duane has a long history of delivery successful projects for M&M and currently oversees M&M’s summer school systemic HVAC renovation projects as well as various projects primarily in the Metro area’s Maryland suburbs.
Paul joined the Company in 2019 and in his current role he is responsible for coordinating with our Project Managers and dispatching our tradesmen, fleet vehicles, material and rental equipment to the appropriate work sites on a daily basis.
He is also responsible for oversight of M&M’s warehouse operations and trucking.
Chris joined M&M team as a Steamfitter in 2017 after working for another local mechanical contractor for 12 years. Chris then joined M&M’s office staff as an Estimator in 2019.
Chris is responsible for maintaining M&M’s bid list, performing take-offs, soliciting quotes from subcontractors and vendors and preparing estimates for submission to customers.
Cody joined M&M team as a Steamfitter in 2019 after working for another local mechanical contractor for 10 years. Cody then joined M&M’s office staff as a Project Manager in 2021.
Cody is responsible for executing various projects for the Company, including projects at the University of Maryland – College Park along with various Government campuses and facilities in the Washington DC & Baltimore metropolitan areas.
Nick joined the Company full-time as an Assistant Project Manager in 2021, after working in the surveying industry.
Nick is responsible for assisting M&M’s Project Managers with the execution of various projects for the Company, including two large projects for the Washington Metropolitan Transportation Authority (WMATA).
Kim currently serves as M&M’s Controller and oversees the accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, among other accounting practices.
She earned a degree in Accounting from University of Maryland University College and joined the Company in 2003 after 17 years with another local specialty contractor.
Shoshannah joined the Company in 2001 as a temporary Receptionist, which turned into a permanent role in M&M’s accounting department in 2004.
She currently handles payroll and accounts payable for the Company.
Christy joined the Company in 2017 as a dispatcher and transitioned to accounting in early 2018. In her current role she assists with accounting functions, particularly accounts receivable.
Tina joined the Company as an Administrative Assistant in 2015 after a similar role with another company. She then moved into M&M’s Accounting Department in 2019.
In her current role, Tina handles project billings and new employee setup.
Kenny joined M&M as our Warehouse Manager in 2017 after a lengthy career in a similar role with another local HVAC contractor.
Kenny’s role is to oversee all warehouse operations including receiving deliveries, managing material inventory and preparing tools/material/equipment for deliveries to our jobsites.
Al joined M&M as a Boilermaker Foreman in 2020 before being promoted to Project Manager in 2021. Al is a 2005 graduate of Boilermaker’s Local 193 Apprenticeship Program and has worked on dozens of boilers in the Washington DC & Baltimore metropolitan areas throughout his career.
Al’s current role at M&M includes management oversight of ongoing boiler projects in addition to assisting with management of HVAC and industrial retrofit projects.
Nelson started in the Company’s Fabrication Shop in 1996. He quickly became M&M’s Fabrication Shop Manager, a position he still holds today.
Nelson oversees the fabrication of components and ASME code projects in our shop such as specialty piping, pipe supports, catwalks, grating, boiler/pipe casings, breeching, etc.
Mark is a true “Hall of Famer.” After serving as Muggs Mullican’s (Founder of M&M) Apprentice and hiring on with M&M in 1977, Mark rose through the ranks as a Journeyman, Foreman and Superintendent, then Sr. Project Manager.
He currently mentors younger PMs on all of M&M’s power plant work through DC and Virginia, while cultivating new work at Universities, apartment complexes and private industry. We are truly grateful Mark chose M&M as his many years of loyal, dedicated service and knowledge kept M&M the leader in the industry.
As M&M’s longest-term employee, Strag came to work part-time in 1972 as a Laborer while still in High School. After serving his apprenticeship with Steamfitters Local 602, Strag began running work, motivating fellow employees to see how fast they could get a job done compared to the competition.
M&M and its customers have benefited from his perspective and ideas of how to complete complex and challenging projects and deadlines. His expertise in this field are second to none and he happily shares and passes this knowledge on to other M&M employees. We thank Strag for his life-long service and dedication to M&M.
Scout has been Carey’s companion since 2009 and currently serves as M&M’s official Company Mascot.
